So Long

Hello all. Well, also good-bye. It seems no matter what I say on here, I seem to upset one particular person. I have decided to stop writing about what's new with us. If I cannot freely write, then what's the point. Feeling guarded just makes it no fun. For those of you that do enjoy what I write, I apologize.

What a day! I'm exhausted. For Jared's birthday, I took him to lunch, got him shoes & 2 CD's. We had a really good time! It was nice just the two of us hanging out. I'm still trying to remember when I gave that boy permission to grow up! He starts his new job tomorrow, and pretty excited about it I think. Well, if nothing else, he's excited to make money! LOL! Atta boy! Nothing really new with Logan & Mandy. They are just enjoying their summer-rarely in the house!

Jeff had quite a day. He got up this morning and bought a scratch ticket in WI, a winner! I NEVER win! Got a call from a guy that offered him a short-term local job. THEN-he's truckin' along and blows a tire, which took out a huge amount of wiring! Everything from the air bags, engine & trailer! He was stuck on the shoulder of an interstate for quite some time under the truck! If he wouldn't have known how to fix it, it could have been thousands of dollars! This is definitely not a lazy mans job!

We are in the middle of a property line dispute right now. Ugh. We finally had to hire a lawyer. All the measurements we got from the county line up with where we think the line is-but for whatever reason-these people think the county is "stupid & lazy" and "just wrong". I refuse to hire a surveyor-we shouldn't have to since they are the ones with the problem! The atty. said not to until we absolutely have to. These people even went so far as to put up some sort of fence-on OUR land! The didn't even bother to "Call before they dug". Yep-they hit lines! I'm sure they'll throw a fit when then get that bill!!

Well, that's about it for today! Hope everyone is well!!

Hello! Not too much new here. Just can't seem to stop watching the flood news & have plans to go help a friend today who just gained entry to his home. What a MESS! I thought about posting pictures on here, but everyone has seen so many, I won't. For those of you not in the Cedar Rapids area-just know that we must pray for those affected by this. Pray that the people keep their spirits up, and remember that we must go forward. Driving by Ellis Blvd yesterday, saw someone painted on the front of their home "God help us" SO TRUE!

We went to Mom's birthday party last night! We had a good time and were able to just enjoy ourselves and relax and catch up on everyone! It was good to see everybody!! Seeing all the kids that I haven't seen for awhile just made me feel old though! Yikes!

Jared found a job! Actually, a good job! He will be working full time for the summer, but will have to stay at his Dad's for a ride. It'll be good for him! He should have money to get a pretty decent car in a month or so! I'm happy for him-but will miss him like crazy! He turns 18 next week-so he's coming home for the weekend. What DO you get an 18 year old?? Mandy has been busy so far this summer babysitting. She has grown up so much this past year. When we DO see her, she's a lot of fun to be around! Logan has been busy staying with Jeff's sister & helping her prepare for a family reunion. He learned to lay bricks, transfer plants & plant grass seed. Dawn said he "worked for his food" LOL! Good for her! She knows how to wear a kid out! Atta girl Dawn!

Well, can't think of much more going on right now! Hope everyone is happy & healthy!

God Bless,

My boys!

And away they go! The boys left for the road, and Logan insisted I get a picture! He's having a blast! Last night, they fought over space in the bunk....I think Logan won! Yesterday, they ran with Jeff's life-long buddy Steve. He told Jeff that taking a 13 year old is sort of like taking a puppy-you have to make sure to stop to potty and let him run! LOL! Jeff's not having any problems finding things for Logan to do though! He was cleaning the windows the last time he called! By weeks end, the truck should be nice and clean for me to go next week! HAHA!

Here ya go D.P.!!!!

Hello all! I know-been a LONG time! We've just been "truckin' " along trying to stay ahead of fuel prices! ICK! I am officially convinced, Jeff runs just to put fuel in that beast! My very dear friend asked that I post, as she doesn't feel caught up on us! Here ya go sweets!

We lost Jeff's mom to cancer on May 17th. Last October, she was given 6-9 months. We were blessed with her for 7 months. She was fairly pain-free and didn't feel/appear to be terminally ill until the last week of her life. Jeff's sister, Dawn, and her husband Dave cared for her and her last months were filled with grandkids and enjoyment! Then, right before Mother's Day, she "went away" so to speak. They admitted her into the hospice wing on the Monday after Mother's Day, and she was gone that next Saturday. Jeff & I spent that Monday evening with her, she only had one true lucid moment, but otherwise not there. Jeff's baby sister, Ann, spent the rest of the week with her as Jeff & Dawn couldn't. We feel she was blessed, as the good Lord took her mind before her body suffered. Dawn & Gert had everything very organized and we were able to celebrate her life and enjoy family time.

The baby brats! Starting with the oldest...
Shawn graduated college in May! Jeff & Justine as well as myself are very proud of him! He paid his own way through school and graduated with a Double Major in Physics and Economics, and a Minor in Math. He will continue at ISU-working towards his PhD. He works when not going to school.
Jared is a Senior in H.S.!! YIKES! When did that happen? He will be working the summer with his step-mom and plans to get some wheels. After high school-he would like to continue his education at an Art School, still trying to decide I think. He is spending as much time with his buddy Andy as he can until he will start work.
Scott will be a Junior in the fall. He is spending some time with his grandparents for a couple weeks. We don't get to see Scotty as much as we'd like though.
Amanda will also be a Junior this year. She's constantly babysitting, saving money for her own car. She did very well in school this year, and is on her way to a short senior year!
Logan is out in the truck right now! Yes, I am jealous! He has been having some issues that he needs a firm hand on, and this will be good for him. The only thing he wanted to do was see Chicago-and is there already today!

As for my side of the family-Mom will be 60 this month! She's having a party and I'm excited to see everyone! As far as I know, Dad is still planning to retire in the fall. Haven't really caught up with everyone lately...I need to make a point of it! My step-sister Tina is taking one of the kittens...I hope! I'll take pictures with me to the birthday party and let her choose! Haven't seen Dani or the kids since before Gertie passed, so really need to get on that! SLACKER????

Amanda's cat had kittens, on the day of Gertie's wake! We came home to 5 tiny kitties! We have picked out one and her name will be Gertie Mae. It seems appropriate since they were born while at the funeral home. We felt it was God's way of giving some happiness in a very unhappy moment. The kittens are now driving me crazy, and I am counting down the weeks until they are gone! Dozer would sure like to get a hold of them! We let him sniff Gertie Mae, and in one swipe, she's soaking wet! ICK! We are planning to fence in the yard in the next couple of weeks so that Dozer can run and be a puppy! At the last vet visit-he weighed in at 117lbs! UGH! So much for PUPPY!

Well, I think that will catch you all up! I will try to make a point of getting on here more often!

God Bless!

Jeez! I forget....

Sorry! I tend to forget when Jeff has the computer home that I need to Blog! We get so busy with projects and kids and other things that I usually get to answer emails and that's about all I have time for!
Well, I guess I will start with the kids. Logan: He is now living with us full time as of today. Although, he happens to be staying at Aunt Dawn's tonight, we stopped over to see Ma and Nick JUST got home when we were ready to leave, and the poor kid just cried because Logan was leaving right away. So, why not! Dawn is awesome with kids, keeps them in line! So, my car is still crammed with Logan's stuff and will be until he gets here to bring it in! LOL! Mandy has been babysitting a lot and loves those kids SO much! She just goes over there to hang out with them-went bowling with them today and had a blast. Jared-he's just Jared! I have to keep on him about homework, but for some dumb reason, he does NOT study for tests and does better when he doesn't! I can't believe he's going to be a Senior next year already! Well-same with Mandy! She'll be a Jr.!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!! I did NOT give them permission to grow up! :(
Scott is doing well, very well in school! We don't get to see him much, but try to take him to see Jeff's mom with us after church. Shawn just moved in with his girlfriend! We really like her, she's a sweetie! He is graduating this spring! T & I are trying to plan the party.
My hubby....SLEEPING!
That is why I happen to have time tonight to sit down and write! LOL! He won't give up the remote though, he wakes up every 10-15 minutes and changes the channel. What a weirdo! Mandy couldn't resist taking a picture. He gives her so much teasing, she has to get him back somehow! Diesel prices are about killing us! I think he puts more money into the truck than he brings home! No-wait-I KNOW he does! He did participate in the April 1st not truckin' day! I was kind of shocked, as he is usually not a part of that kind of stuff. He even called all his trucker buddies that were truckin' and gave them crap! LOL! But, nothing like that will work unless the truckers seriously ALL get together and shut down for about a week. With no freight moving, maybe someone would get the hint! UGH!
The trailer is still VACANT! I'm going nuts. Don't know what happened, but I decided to paint the damn bathroom...yep, added more work for myself! DUH AMY!
Jamie: She's doing pretty good! Well, other than she hurt her back and needs to STAY OFF HER FEET! that's like telling a bird not to fly! She's so particular about her home, that she just can't sit still. I wish I had her energy!
Myself...well-nothing really new! Except at that last Dr appointment, they decided I have some sort of heart condition, which I don't quite believe at this point. I have been fighting my Thyroid for years, and I think it's that. Time to kill it I guess. I have just been stubborn, as I know most people gain weight after it. But, I haven't been feeling good-at all. When I get up, I get dizzy, see spots & feel very weak. Dozer has caught me a couple of times (with all his breeds, it's in his blood!), and Jared & Mandy have A LOT! Jamie DID remind me I am hypoglycemic. Which, I do tend to forget to eat somedays.
I can't WAIT till this weather starts to warm up! Where the hell is this Global Warming anyway????? I want to be outdoors, working in my garden! I am also creating a little "serenity" spot back in the corner of our yard and want to get going on it! I watch HGTV daily so I have a ton of ideas, which I will probably forget before the weather warms up! (A smarter person would write them down! LOL) Trying to talk Jeff into a pond...he's convinced it's not going to happen....HA! I do have some things starting to pop up and hope they make it through this week, I think we'll be ok after that. I have quite a bit to split off and take to Jamie's, as well as Marissa (my neighbor) AND try to give the other trailer a little "curb appeal"!!! Jeff is just waiting for mushrooms! JEEZ! One track mind! Forget the flowers, give that man a mushroom hunt and he's happy! (I will be too if we find any! YUM!)
Update on Jeff's mom. Not so good. She has started to occasionally cough up blood. This means the cancer is progressing and when it gets to the point where the blood doesn't stop, then it will go quickly. She is not in any pain-and that is our only prayer at this point. She has her funeral planned. Everything is in order and she's ready to go be with the Lord. The only thing she doesn't have set is the music, which I will take over some options and see what she likes. I have quite a few in mind-to celebrate her life and the fact that she will be with Jesus!
Well, I suppose that is about all for tonight! I will try to remember to get on here more often!
Love to all!
God Bless,
Amy

Hello!

Hello all! Sorry it's been a few days! Been BUSY! Jeff was home until yesterday, which after he's home that long, it makes me even sadder when he goes. Back to being married to a phone call! :(
We had really good Easter! We went to my Dad & Mom's and had dinner, almost the whole family was there! It was a packed house, but it is so fun over there...no one fights, it might be loud, but it's always that of laughter! Mom made in incredible dinner! I am going after leftovers today! Tee-hee, like I need them! But, with like 25 people (and that's missing 2 of the families!) you need a lot of food! LOL! After my Dad's we stopped into Jeff's sister's house. Got to play with "The little fighter" (Alex) and Nick for awhile, but then Jared called and he was on his way home from Joe's and we had locked the house, so we had to take off. Gert (Jeff's mom) is doing awesome! Thanks to all for your continued prayers! She is by-passing the time the doc's gave her and doesn't seem to be failing in health! I still say she's not sick, she just wanted company all the time! LOL
Well.....Logan is with me this week. For those of you who know his dad-he is gone now. Logan is not taking it so well, so I do ask for prayers for my little man, as I would hate to see depression set in.
We are STILL working on that damn rental! It is like the movie "Money Pit"!!!! The renter must have shoved everything she could find down the kitchen sink, as we cannot seem to get it unclogged! I don't predict it being done by the first of the month...especially with Jeff gone! The painting is VERY close to being done, a little trim & touch-up and we'll be done. Still need to get the carpet laid in one of the bedrooms as well. I can't like this Landlord biz. Nope, not right now! UGH! I pray that we get "Normal" people in there!!!!
Well, I am off to the doc, so I better close! (not sick, just some edema going on, so just a med check)
Hope you are all well!

Amy

Landlords...a good thing?

WELL! We have been totally consumed with painting/fixing/cleaning, etc! That rental is a MESS! (Was...) How do people stand to live like that? It stunk so bad in there, I couldn't wait to get the paint out so I could smell that!!! Unfortunately, the people that we thought we had it rented to, decided that staying in town would be better for them, so it's back to showing the place! UGH! I really liked them too!! DAMMIT! Sarah-if you are reading...GRRRRRRRRRR! LOL
Jeff & I took Shawn & his girlfriend out for dinner last night, we had a good time! I was exhausted, so probably more snappy than usual. I wanted to stay home, but wanted to see Shawn & Sam worse than I wanted to stay home alone! The kids were both gone. I wanted to sleep in this morning, but my husband, my sweet, dear, adorable PUNK husband is an early riser and we had to get working on the trailer a whole lot earlier than I wanted to be awake! THEN, once awake, realized I didn't have coffee creamer or sweetner, so had to drive to Martelle to get my caffeine boost! UGH! Poor Jeff! Dealing with me in the morning isn't fun to begin with-with no coffee right away-YIKES! LOL!!!
I can't believe that Easter is next weekend already! JEEZ! I do have some of my plants started and they are doing well....as long as I can manage to keep the cats out of them!
Jeff's plates are due on the truck.....so, he has to drive to Des Moines on Tuesday and pay that huge bill so he can get back on the road! Also, the alternator went out in the big truck, so he still has to replace that before he can take off again! I am not complaining, I am enjoying having him home!!! (Except in the damn morning!!!!!) LOL
Well, I am exhausted, so will keep it short for today! If anyone is looking to rent a mobile home....send them my way!
Hope everyone is happy & healthy!

Amy

Boredom=PAIN!

Hello! Well, Jeff didn't make it home for the weekend, so I was stuck here, all alone. (poor me...lol) The kids were off helping Jamie move, so I decided it was a good time to.....paint my bedroom! UGH! I got the room emptied out, all by myself, then got it all primed by 3:00 a.m. Got up Sunday and started in on the ceiling, then the walls, I put in 14 hours on Sunday alone! I was SO sore and SO swollen, I felt like an 80yr old woman! LOL, then, today (Monday) I put in another 9 or 10 hours! STILL NOT DONE! LOL, I decided to wash all the clothes in the closet and not smoke in the bedroom anymore, so I have a ton left to do yet! AND, haven't even done the trim! LOL!!!! Jeff came home tonight just in time to meet a couple that was looking at the trailer....and we rented it out! YAY! They seem to be really nice people, and had a great reference from their landlords! I am so excited! HOWEVER-when my neighbor, Marissa, and I went in there this morning, the STINK was so bad I wanted to gag! It was (is) absolutely filthy! How can people do so much damage to a place in a year? I have my work cut out for me over there, that's for sure! I am even letting the new people pick out the colors, I mean heck, they have to live there! We got to pick them out here.
Tonights post is going to be a short one, as it's very late and I am exhausted! I will post again this week, promise! (I tend to get yelled at a bit if I don't at least once-twice a week! LOL)
Hope everyone is HEALTHY!

YAY!

I finally made it online at home! YAY! I am discovering how much I hate dial-up and will get DSL as SOON as possible, but for now, this works!

Mandy is home sick, and has been all week! She babysat Saturday night and the little boy had some sort of virus, so she got it! I am sure I'm next! UGH! This particular one includes sore throat, high fever, body aches & headache. Yay....can't wait!

Jeff is in Colorado, I hate it when he goes to CO, because I WANNA GO! He's now heading for TX and I am really jealous now! GRRR! I think he's going to work through the weekend, so I am very glad I finally got online! I can at least check emails!

Well, I had court today for the tenants from hell! Even though they are totally gone now, the judge gave it another 5 days! SO, I can't get in there to start anything until Monday. JEEZ! I am starting to second guess this whole landlord thing! I am considering making that trailer the Whitaker Trucking office and not have to worry about it! It would be a tax write-off for the business and we wouldn't have to go through all this crap!

Well, I hope this finds everyone well! (Stay away from sick people!!!)

God Bless,
Amy

One last post before the computer disappears for the week!

Hello to all! I figured while the computer is still home, I'd post one last time to sum up the weekend!
Jared finally made it home around noon after a weekend at a friend's. Mandy's weekend was full of babysitting and she's taken up a Scrabble match with Marissa (our dear neighbor). It's good for her! Logan went home today, and Mandy & I put the house back in order. For a little man, he can make big messes! GRRRR! LOL!
I did forget to mention earlier that I FINALLY met my wonderful, beautiful niece Zoe! She is absolutely perfect! I got to feed her and do a little "auntie bonding". She did decide that I must be officially initiated into being her Aunt, cuz she pooped on me! LOL! I've had 3 babies, so it's really not a big deal, just funny! She's a very quiet, good baby and I look forward to spending time with her, my other niece Lily and nephew Josiah as much as possible...oh ya-and you Dani! LOL! I guess the Mom comes with the kids? Once the weather is more stable, I would love to go and have a few hours a week with them, and visit with my sister! She is younger than I am, but so much wiser in so many ways! Every time we are together, we figure out more and more that we have in common! It's been a lot of fun, and as much as I adore being an aunt....being a big sister is just as rewarding! I would post a picture of my beautiful niece, but I am not sure it's appropriate to put someone else's baby on the internet! Just take my word for it.....cuz I'm not bias or anything! LOL!

Jeff will be off and gone early in the morning, and I dread it already. I am praying that he someday finds a "circle" route that would take him in and out of Chicago everyday and be home nightly....but that is going to be pure luck on that one! For now, I get my phone calls and eventually, MY computer WILL work! After spending all that money getting it dial-up ready and it STILL doesn't work.....I am seriously thinking of gutting it and using it for a planter! GRRRR!

I had a chance to speak to Jeff's Mom tonight! She's settled in with Dawn & Dave and loving every second of being with Alex (The Little Fighter!) He's so funny, and at such a fun age! I think he'll keep her young and prolong her life just because she enjoys him so much! But, Ma sounds good, feels good and is in no pain whatsoever! I told her again, she's not really sick and if she wanted constant company, she just needed to tell us! I DO believe that the 6-9months that they gave her will come and go, and we'll still have her around! She's just a natural fighter I guess!

I also had a wonderful email from, well, I guess he's my former Uncle-in-Law. (Jay's Uncle). He's a wonderful Old Goat and I enjoy every time I see an email from him! The kids adore him, as do I and after 13 years of marriage to Jay-you can't just erase one of the family members! :) This goes out to you Uncle Rich-We love you very much and BE GOOD! (He really won't be good, but I have to at least try!)

Well all, I guess that's all I have for the weekend! I hope this finds everyone happy & healthy!

God Bless,
Amy

This would be our "puppy" playing with the kids! They brought it on themselves! LOL! They were wrestling with him on the floor and thought they'd be safe by hopping up to the couch...ummm-Dozer had a different plan! He's so funny! If you can tell, in the first picture, he was actually leaping on to the couch after them! Jeez! I keep trying to tell him he's NOT a lapdog, but he just won't hear of it! :)

Well, I have still been busy painting on and off-taking some breaks so I don't get sick of it before i have to go into that trailer and paint the whole thing! UGH! I went and got the appropriate papers filed with the courts, have my hearing this coming Wednesday! All this to get into our OWN property! Tenant rights are much more than landlord! I have noticed that the tenant has been over there moving more out, which will make my job easier when eviction day comes with the Sheriff! If she'd just turn in those keys to me before Wednesday, I won't have to go any further with the Sheriff involved! JEEZ!

Logan is here this weekend, being pretty good so far! I think he's a little bored, but Dozer is keeping him company. Of course, he didn't bring his snow boots or gloves or anything to go play outside in the snow! These kids are certainly not like we were! Man, if I didn't have my stuff to go outside in the winter, I got in trouble!

Jeff is off getting some tires for the truck & trailer. It sucks being married to a trucker, just because it's the weekend, he can't stop working! So, we don't see him anyway when he is in town! When he's not working on the truck, or doing his paperwork, he's so tired he sleeps! So, I've basically come to the conclusion that I am married to a phone, as that is the only time I get to actually TALK to him!

The only plans we have this weekend however, is that we are going to the Worship Center tonight, then church tomorrow, dropping off Logan and getting Jeff ready to get back on the road! I am doing some of his laundry today....but if he doesn't bring it in from the truck, I am a little confused on how I am supposed to do it? Then he just complains the truck smells like dirty socks...hmmmmm. IMAGINE THAT! LOL

Well friends, that's about all I have for today! Hope this finds everyone well!

God Bless,
Amy

Another midweek visit!

Wow! Another midweek visit from my hubby! He's on his way through Iowa and decided to sleep at home tonight! Unfortunately, I am not feeling all that well. I don't know if I ate something bad, or if I have a tummy virus or something. So, the goofball won't even kiss me! :(

I decided to put Jeff's company in the phone book! I got the current book in the mail the other day, glancing at the "Trucking" heading and realized we needed to be there! So, I called a girlfriend of mine and put an ad in for the next book in the area coming out, and will plan to also do the local book as well! I can't believe after working for a phone book for 7 years, I forgot about getting him in there! DUH! Oh well, it's done now! LOL

The kids are good, not much school this week due to the weather and drifting roads, I think they'll be in school til the 4th of July! HA! Logan called tonight and wants me to come get him tomorrow as they don't have school Friday. So, I will go get him after I get to the courthouse to file papers to evict the tenants! I will also hopefully have my computer internet ready by tomorrow night! I hate being cut out of the outside world! UGH!

Well, I really don't have much more tonight-I hope everyone is well!

God Bless!

Time keeps on ticking....but where the heck is Spring???

Another week gone by, and we're expecting MORE snow. ICK. Dozer is about the only one in the family that loves it-with ALL of his breeds (he is a mix of Alaskan Husky, Yellow Lab, Golden Retriever & get this.....St. Bernard!), this is his kind of weather! He stays outside all day and when he does come in-he wants back out! JEEZ! Crazy dog.

Today, Jared & I took down some cabinets that separated the kitchen & living room....WOW, what a difference! It makes the space seem SO much bigger! If I could take out the cupboards underneath, without having to redo the flooring, I'd do that too! Now, I REALLY need to paint the ceiling where it was, along with a small part of the wall. But, I can deal with that for awhile....well, a few days anyway! LOL I am just enjoying the open feeling right now!

I've tried ALL week to get on the internet with my PC, but it has to go to the computer doctor. After all the money Jeff dumped into it-the damn thing doesn't even have an internal modem! DUH! So, I guess it will only cost about 50 to get me on the internet with it.....MORE than worth it! I will be connected with the outside world again during the week! YAY!

The tenants haven't yet moved out, supposed to be gone by tomorrow night. THEN, I will be staying busy for a week or two! I forgot to call the paper and get an ad in, but will do it first thing Monday. Then, off to buy paint and cleaning crap & radio in tow, I'll be next door! They were smokers, so I am sure I'll have to paint the ceiling and all. Any volunteers? LOL!!!! But, one good thing, I will need to rent a rug doctor, so I can do my own as well!
Well, I think that's about all for now-hope you are all well!

A Midweek Surprise!

I love it when my trucker makes it home midweek! He makes me smile! Even brought me a little gift, and who says truckers aren't romantics? I for one, love hearing the truck running outside the trailer! I tend to sleep better...? He did get pulled over today however! LOL, the D.O.T. caught him doing 62 in a 55..hmmmmm. Imagine this-he only got a warning! A female officer, and Jeff is a natural flirt! What a punk! (Though I AM glad he didn't get a ticket!) And lucky for him, he had just updated all his paperwork (log book, etc) so everything was in order.

Ok, did anyone see that Lunar Eclipse??? What an awesome sight! I had an appointment in town tonight, so I had the privilege of watching it the whole way home! Amanda took some pictures, but I haven't had the time to get them on the computer yet! If they turn out, I will be sure to post them!

Well, if anyone knows of someone looking for a place to rent...send them my way! We had to evict our current tenants and will now be advertising the trailer that we own, on this same property. The kids & I will get in there as soon as we can to clean, paint and make sure all is working then we can hopefully move someone in soon!!! I will be putting an ad in the paper this weekend. This landlord stuff is all new to me, so a little scary! And it's "Whitaker's World" to have to evict our first tenants! UGH! Thank goodness the people we bought this place from are awesome and are helping me out with the legalities and keeping things in order! We are only about 25 minutes outside of the city, so it's very peaceful and not a bad commute! :)

I have been doing absolutely nothing the past few days! I did have to take my neighbor in to get her car, as she drives on what might as well be racing slicks, LOL, so she has no traction! I followed her home and I think I should have gone ahead of her to clear a path through the drifted highways! It was kind of funny watching her little Corolla going through them, then coming out in a fish tail! Tee-Hee, SORRY Marissa! I was then sick yesterday, down with a fever...ick. Headache (from HELL!), sore throat and body aches...but, slept until 1:00 today and felt better once I woke up! I feel a little better, but headache is not as intense, yet, my throat is just so dry.

Well, I suppose that is all I have for today! I hope this finds everyone HEALTHY! and most important-SAFE!!!!

God Bless,
Amy

No-he's not scared!

The tractor in the ditch should have been our first clue! DUH!
Well, being married to a Trucker-it should not have surprised me when he suggested we take a road trip to the bank...in a blizzard! We had to take Logan home anyway, but going the extra 30miles West...ummm, maybe could have waited until, jeez, I don't know- tomorrow! At some points, there was a few miles
where we were in a total white out! With...NO SHOULDER! LOL!
But, being married to a trucker, no fear of the roads! UGH!
Although, we DID get to see the beauty of the storm as well! This is a winter that reminds me of when I was a kid! I am MORE than ready for spring-don't get me wrong! But, this is a TRUE Iowa winter! The kids don't have school tomorrow....so I will have to deal with them complaining about how bored they are! I'm sure with the winds coming, we will lose the dish!
I don't think through our whole road trip we went over 30mph, so at least Jeff is safe about it! I only got nervous once or twice, but we made it!
I was saddened today that we didn't get plowed out early enough for church! I didn't get to see Zoe's dedication...I hope that my sister took pictures!
Well, that's about all, it has been a pretty uneventful weekend! Hope everyone stays SAFE on those roads!

God Bless,
Amy

Still hangin' in here!

Hello all! Well, another week gone by! Every week that passes is one closer to spring! YAY! The winter blahs have overcome me it seems, and I have been trying to act like a bear and sleep A LOT! This week, I did get some work done around the house, moved the living room around-that always seems to help...even the slightest bit of change! Today, we went to Jeff's mom's house and picked up a desk, and it works well in the living room now!! But, there are a few more things she wants us to have- I will find the room. It's so awesome having My Trucker home! I find myself missing him more every week that he's gone! I wonder if I will ever get used to having him gone all week? After all, we ARE still newlyweds! The end of this month will be 4 months! He brought me home my Valentine....one of those GIANT cards & a cute teddy bear! What a sweetheart I have! He even knew better than to bring me candy-as he knows I am trying to drop about 15 lbs!!!! GOOD BOY!

I did have a request on an update from my old blog....The Little Fighter! Alex, is doing WONDERFUL! It seems all that oxygen he received has made him TOO intelligent! He celebrated his first birthday in October and is cute as it gets! LOL, glad he's my nephew and not MINE! LOL!!! I thank you ALL for all your prayers for the little man, he's healthy as can be! Prayer DOES work! :) We actually had the opportunity to see him today while at Jeff's Mom's and I got him to giggle within a few minutes....I always KNEW I was funny looking! LOL! He's scared to death of Jeff....but he warms up to him after a bit.

Jamie has bought herself a mobile home! I'm so excited for her! She and her boy Keaton will be very comfy there, and closer to Keaton's school! I haven't had a chance to talk to her much, as she's not been feeling well (who IS????) and when she does feel well, she is working on painting & new carpet for the trailer! And, then, if she's healthy and not busy, I am sick or busy!

We have Logan this weekend, and since becoming an actual "teenager", he is "All That!" LOL! Jeff & I took him to lunch today and he said "I am finally a teenager, but STILL the baby!" Little goofball! I will go and watch him wrestle this Tuesday.....UGH. However, after the meet, I am going to go and "babysit" Jeff's mom! I am very excited to have some time with her! Today, she seemed to be doing....so-so. Wearing out easily and I did notice her memory is fading quicker & quicker.

Tomorrow, we will go and see my niece Zoe Ireland be dedicated to the church! I am SO excited to finally meet her! That is IF I am feeling well, tonight my tummy seems upset and it seems the body aches are setting in.....NO! I refuse! LOL! But, that poor baby has been ill, and after many tests, including a spinal tap, they found out she had an intestinal infection. Ick! Very scary, but at least they figured it out and she's on a good path to being healthy!

Well, time to snuggle up with My Trucker and watch a movie! I am in the process of trying to get MY computer up and running so that I can Blog more often and be in touch with the world!

God Bless,
Amy

I had just gotten started!

I know! I had just gotten started and Jeff takes the computer out in the truck for a WEEK! GRRR! This would be an example of life in my world! In addition to no computer, I also had no car-the alternator went out. So, with the storm as well, I had no tv (satellite!), my cell went bonkers, no car, no computer. Talk about feeling STRANDED! My wonderful neighbor helped me out with a ride for smokes (I have my priorities!!) LOL, well, I needed coffee as well! But, I made it through, almost done with the blanket I am crocheting and managed to get all the roses Jeff has ever given me preserved & framed!
I mentioned last week that Amanda has a new "love"....well, stick my foot in my mouth! She got her little heart broke this week! In the meantime, Jared took on a new girlfriend! UGH! The one thing I have decided is to NOT try to predict them! (Especially publicly-such as a Blog! LOL)

I did have a wonderful surprise this week! A friend of mine drove all the way out here...IN A STORM! and brought me 3 beautiful roses! The card said "One for each year we've been friends" What a sweetie!!! They are gorgeous-one pink, one lavender and one white! I love them! And I fully intend to preserve them, and frame them as well! She is expecting this summer, and I think I am more excited for baby than she is! LOL

Well, I promised updates on extended families! I'll start with mine!
Many of you know of Troy & my mom. Well, they have decided to eliminate me from their lives, so there is really nothing more I am choosing to say on that subject.
In late September, Jeff & I were married in my dad's back yard! It was absolutely wonderful! Vicky (I'll refer to her as Mom) made my day exceptionally special! I am working on getting a couple of wedding pictures on here-my 2 brothers, Nathan & Christopher, as well as my sister Dani were also there to make our day awesome! But, from my side (well, other than my kids of course!) that was all that I had...and all that I needed! My Dad & Mom's yard was so perfect for a small wedding! We had a BLAST! Laughed the entire day. Isn't that what it is all supposed to be anyway, a lot of fun?!?! My brother-in-law Derek, Dani's hubby, married us, which made it extra special. Jamie was there of course! I think she cried through the whole service! HA! Jeff's sisters Dawn & her kids were there, Ann & of course Mackenzie were also there. And Jeff's Mom was naturally there, and we all had a really great time! We honeymooned at Lake Wisconsin in the best 70's flashback cabin!!! It was a lot of fun and we even made it up to the Dells for a day!
As for Mom & Dad, they are doing well, Mom is working as she always does at tax time and Dad is planning to retire in October! He knows as well as all of us kids however....we'll all keep him busy with projects!
Update on Jeff's side...
Jeff's Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in October. At that time, they had given her 6-9 months. I believe in the power of prayer, and don't believe that God would give me such an awesome mother-in-law and then take her from me so soon! She is not in pain, but is to be with someone 24/7, in case of a fall. She tends to have short-term memory loss, but she is doing well! I've asked many for prayers, and will continue to ask for that!
Jeff's niece, Mackenzie, who lived with us during 2007, has moved back to town and is attending her old school. She can be closer to her mom that way, and is with her friends. Upon her leaving, I felt as if I was losing one of my own children! It broke my heart, and caused a "kink" in the family, but we'll work that little kink out!

Around Christmas time, I made a special trip into the office that I worked at for 7 years, talk about awkward! I walked those halls for so many years, and then after 1 1/2yrs, to walk through there again was for sure WEIRD! I had lunch with 3 of the ladies that I worked with everyday, and had a very short, but very nice visit
with them! I must say-I had fun, saw a lot of people that I had missed seeing on a daily basis (and even a few faces I could have done without LOL)! I stopped at a very dear friend's desk and talked for quite a long time, it was incredible to see her! I really must stress to everyone-don't let those that you love slip from your lives! This life is way too short for harboring harsh/ugly feelings and regrets! A big giant hug from an old friend can be so healing! In so many ways! I don't intend to stay away quite as long this time! I really enjoyed my lunch and catch-up time!

Well, I have rambled plenty tonight! I am not sure as to when I will get another chance on the computer, so don't give up on me! LOL

God Bless to ALL!

An update to get started....

Hello to all! I have decided to start my writings again, I hope you all enjoy! I will start with updates on the kids & Jeff! Shawn is graduating college this spring and plans to head onto graduate school! So, between school & his gal, he stays pretty busy! Jeff, Shawn's mom, and myself are all VERY proud of him!! Jared is keeping busy with school work and the occasional trip to town with friends. He is girlfriend-free right now and plans to stay that way....at least until after Valentines Day! LOL Scott is doing well in school and is keeping himself busy with that as well as his Friday nights are planned out for video games with friends. Amanda has a new love, a wee bit older than she is, but we do like him! She finds herself busy with school, babysitting and "date" nights with Landon. There is one piece of big news with Amanda-Jeff will be adopting her legally! She is very excited and has already started to practice signing her new name! Logan is still living with his dad and has joined the wrestling team (NOT Mom's favorite sport...) but he's very excited about it! And Mom will truck through the ice & snow to go and watch him! I suppose that's why we own a 4-wheel drive!

Since putting in a new engine in Jeff's truck, he's been keeping the wheels rolling! The weather has slowed him down a bit this week, but has been driving hard since the beginning of the year!
We did have to put down our Elk. We had lost the 2 bulls & 1 bull-calf to a copper deficiency, so, after long consideration and tons of prayer-the right thing to do was to sell the 2 babies we had left and butchered out the females. After testing, found they were healthy.....enough to eat! YUM! We will again someday get a new herd, just too much going on in our lives for them right now. And for now-we have a freezer full of meat to keep us for awhile!

I have been keeping busy with crocheting. Keeps my mind occupied and time passes quickly. Being cooped up all winter has started to wear on me, thank God spring is just around the corner! I have been trying to decide which corner of the house I am going to fill up with starter plants for the garden, as well as planning plant placement for this year. I am thinking that after the awesome turn out of last years garden, this year I am going to extend it probably 10 feet! I will also be taking advantage of my mom's knowledge in the kitchen and do some canning this season!
I have also been puttering with some other of my crafty things, if you know me, you know how I love to do my wreaths & other arrangements!

My little sister Dani has just recently had her baby, Zoe Ireland! (isn't that a beautiful name!) I, however, have yet to see her! The "ick" that we have all been passing around has kept me from her, I am hopeful I'll get to see her before she starts preschool! LOL In looking at her pictures however, she looks an awful lot like Logan did when he was born! Nice and plump!

Jamie, my life-long best friend has been doing well! We keep each other entertained with the daily things that come our way. Though she is only 12 miles away, we do not see each other very often, but usually yak once or twice a day-keeping each other sane!!!

Dozer, our over-grown puppy just turned 1 year old and officially weighs in at 102 lbs! He craves attention and devours the largest bones I can buy! Morris & Tinker Bell keep him busy-taunting him ever chance they get!

I will be adding pictures over the next few days, so I hope that you all will check back in with me! I will, as time allows, also be filling everyone in on our extended families! I am excited to start blogging again, as I have missed writing! I plan to update as the entertainment rolls in; which in some cases is daily! I've found that in Whitaker's world...nothing stays the same for more than a day!

God Bless,
The Trucker's Wife!
